What are Field Bets in Craps
During a game of craps, it is actually possible for a field bet to be made at any time during the game. Whether a player wins or loses on a field bet, it is solely determined with a single roll of the dice only. Field bets are based on the roll of a single dice only, whereas buy bets and lay bets are significantly different relying upon multiple rolls, and therefore somewhat more complicated for the average player to understand. It is for this reason that field bets are very popular with beginner players
With a field bet if the shooter happens to roll any of the following numbers: 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, or 12, then the player wins. The bet is however lost to the house or casino if any other number is rolled by the shooter. The odds paid for both 2 and 12 are usually 2 to 1 and the rest of the winning numbers pay the player even money odds. At any casino, field bets are one the most popular bets on a game of craps. They are easy to play and easy to follow. Some professional craps players have suggested that the advantage to the house is an acceptable 5%, which is a reason for their extreme popularity too
