The idea of betting your money and winning more back is what brings us all back to gambling, the problem that occurs though is what’s the best way to play? What are the best bets in craps? I don’t really understand the terminology! Don’t worry…

Whilst the number of bets can, certainly to the beginner, seem overwhelming, there are really only four bets that a worth spending any time explaining:

“Pass Line Bets” – This is an even money wager, where the player wins if the first roll is a natural. A natural is a roll of either a 7 or an 11. The player loses if a craps is rolled. Craps are made up of a 2, 3 or a 12. A point can also be rolled; these are made up of 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10. If a point is rolled, that number must be repeated before a 7 is rolled, or the point is lost.

“Don’t Pass Line Bets” – This is a reversal of a Pass Line bet. So where you would lose previously, this time you are a winner.

“Come Bet” – Essentially, this has the same rules as the Pass Line bet. The only difference is when it is played. It can only be played if the point on the pass line has already been determined. Following the bets, the first roll of the dice will mark the come point. A win is chalked up if it is a natural (7 or 11), lose if it is craps (2, 3, or 12). Again, you can win or lose depending on the time of the next point roll.

“Don’t Come Bets” – Once again, this is a reversal of its predecessor, and wins or losses after the point has been set is determined by the roll of the next point.

Once these basics have been mastered, you can start to move on to the more complex betting. However, once again, before risking it all on the throw of a dice do be sure to perfect your style with free online craps games in the first instance!
