This American Billionaire is famed for both his Vegas connections and property development. Estimated worth is currently $3.4 billion. A lot of the wealth he accumulated started from holding the COMDEX computer trade shows. He later convinced his partners to purchase the Sands Hotel and Casino. One of the reasons for this choice of purchase was that it was a favourite hangout for the Rat Pack and Sinatra. He hoped that this would add some power to his exhibitions. After buying the hotel and casino he built the Sand Convention Center.

After a honeymoon in Venice he decided it was time for a change and totally rebuilt the Sands into the Venetian. This hotel and resort was the first of its kind as it really was a mega resort and was named one of the finest hotels in the world. The hotel came complete with Venetian canals, gondolas, 1,049 room suites and 18 restaurants!

Currently he is constructing the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore and is expected to cost in the region of $5.5 billion when completed in 2010. He also has the Venetian Macao on Cotai.

Mr Adelson also has a substantial reputation as a philanthropist and has founded many different charities and schools. He also has branched into supporting many medical research projects for millions of dollars, the most notable being the Adelson Medical Research Foundation. He has also been the center of some controversy and has been accused of some dodgy dealings in the past.
