Craps Strategy – Martingale systems

The Martingale system can be traced back to the 1700s, when players would wager on coin flips. The system is only used where there are two outcomes. In Craps, this could be the Pass line, Don’t Pass Line, the Come Bet or the Don’t Come Bet.

The system is based on probability of the two outcomes. If you wager $10 on the Pass Line and you lose, you then double your bet on the same bet, if that loses you double up again until you do win. Casinos have table bets to cap systematic betting. For example, if you should run into seven straight defeats then your wager would be up to $640. Craps tables usually have a $500 limit.

The Martingale system is generally based around the losing bets. There is the reverse Martingale system, which is based around winning bets. Place a bet and double up when you win on the winning outcome. There is of course similar drawbacks which are only determined by table limits or whether your bankroll is sufficient.

Land based casinos try to halt the Martingale system as, especially in Craps, you have control of the dice. Some players can control them with certain rolling techniques. Playing the Martingale system and manipulating the dice can have a serious cash flow drain on the casino. Online it is slightly different as casinos use random number generators. These vary between casinos but mimic the randomness of probable outcomes.

With the Martingale system, players are always betting on winning their initial wager back and only in games where the payout is 1 to 1. While this may not be huge in money making terms, the system is designed result in regular but small profit outcomes. Remember, it depends on your solidity of your bankroll amount.
